Our Story

“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”

-Marcus Garvey

Who We Were

Moody-Warren Grain Elevator, circa 1920

The Town of Timnath has a rich history of agriculture and artisanship dating back to even before the founding of the town in 1882. Native Americans and wild buffalo roamed these fields before the homesteaders built their farmhouses. Soon Downtown Timnath was a bustling train stop hub between Greeley and Fort Collins.

“We were born from creators, cultivators, and creatives. You can feel it along Main Street, as the ghosts of far-gone parades and festivals still hum in the breeze.”

Our building was first named the Moody-Warren Grain Elevator and was built to serve the Great Western Railway, Colorado farmers, and local agriculture. Farmers from around the area would bring their onions, potatoes, sugar beets, and other crops to the Colorado Feed & Grain for storage and transportation on the next train.

20th-century Timnath had everything typical of Main Streets during that time – a general store, post office, church, school – a strip of dirt road that connected the residents of Timnath with each other.

Who We Are

When the bustling town of Timnath shifted from an agricultural hub, the grain elevator began the next chapter of its life as well. In the 60’s, the molasses was shoveled from the basement and the structure was remodeled to serve a truly live-work lifestyle. The Feed & Grain became a family-operated flooring store, with an apartment above to serve as the residence for the owner’s family.

Decades passed when the Colorado Feed & Grain fulfilled its destiny as a food-centric gathering space. The Roadhouse was born of mouth-watering burgers, sticky floors, loud music, and weekly shrimp boils.

“Stories from decades at the Colorado Feed & Grain still resonate in its walls. I always wonder what we would learn if I could tune the frequency just right.”

As all things, the CF&G too rose from the ashes of circumstance and was elegantly reconstructed after a fire in 2012 with the vision to once again become the hub for local commerce in Downtown Timnath.

Our Vision

The local shops of the Colorado Feed & Grain landmark are situated directly on the corner of Main Street and 3rd Avenue in Downtown Timnath. Throughout its century of life, the CF&G has lived many chapters and we hope to do justice to its history with this new chapter as a collaborative of many businesses.

Celebrate tradition.

Engage in change.

Focus on community.

Connect through collaboration.

Together we hope to make the CF&G and Downtown Timnath the premier destination for residents and visitors as a multi-purpose public market – foods, brews, events, and community.
